Bataan High School for Sports (BHSS) was officially established through Republic Act No. 12239, also known as the “Bataan High School for Sports Act,” signed on August 29, 2025. The law created the school in the Municipality of Bagac, Bataan, with the goal of providing specialized secondary education for learners with strong potential in sports while ensuring academic excellence. The school is administered and supervised by the Department of Education (DepEd) in close coordination with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the National Academy of Sports (NAS).
It is considered a flagship or “baby project” of Congresswoman Gila Garcia of the 3rd Congressional District of Bataan, envisioned to create greater opportunities for aspiring young athletes in the province.
Guided by the vision of producing disciplined, competent, and values-oriented student-athletes, BHSS serves as a center for sports excellence and academic achievement. Its curriculum integrates academic instruction with intensive sports training across various disciplines, helping students excel not only in athletic competitions but also in leadership, character, and lifelong learning.
Through the strong partnership of DepEd, the Schools Division Office of Bataan, local government units, coaches, teachers, and community stakeholders, Bataan High School for Sports continues to uphold its commitment to shaping future champions and responsible citizens who bring pride and honor to Bataan and the nation.
